A traditional technique class in Cecchetti style that includes barre and center work with emphasis on body placement and alignment. Class emphasizes musicality, strength, posture, balance, self-discipline, and grace.
A class that fuses elements of jazz, ballet, funk, social and modern dance styles of the 20th century. Blending spontaneous movement and personal interpretation with technicality and skill, this class focuses on self-expression, awareness of space and body placement, use of body weight, efficiency of muscle use, and body alignment

HIP HOP (Beginner-Advanced)
A high-energy, athletic class that includes historical elements of hip-hop with commercialized style. Dancers are encouraged to explore the relationship the genre offers with regard to rhythms, musical interpretation, and personal style through choreography and center progressions.
Energy packed, expressive and physical, this class explores the classical, commercial and lyric style. Progressions emphasize proper placement, isolations, rhythmic dynamics and flexibility. The class develops through a foundational warm-up, across-the-floor and movement phrase combinations.

Students who participate in this 4-week course will be presented at the Built On Stilts dance festival in August. Dancers will work with choreographers in constructing this year’s piece and are required to take a supporting class.
Footwork fundamentals, rhythmic execution, timing, clarity and performance style are all technical elements of a tap class. Students exercise specific skills in center-work and link steps in moving patterns and combinations.
