Costume Information

  • Female dancers must have a black camisole leotard from NIMBLY as the base for their holiday costumes. Males need a black tank-style undershirt (Hanes is fine) and dark, boxer briefs.

  • TIGHTS: ALL classes wear the same tights on stage for continuity. RISE uses stir-up tights for the show (this accommodates quick changes for students in multiple classes).
**We will include the tight order at the costume distribution on dress rehearsal day.
Tights are $10; accounts charged once ordered.
ORIGINAL Assigned Costume Bag or Garment Bag:
  • MUST be returned in tact, same as it was distributed, with labels and all inventory inside.
  • POST SHOW: LEAVE BAGS BACKSTAGE in designated costume area.

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement is essential to the success of our shows!  The supervision, safety, and assistance that parents provide helps our staff focus on keeping the production moving smoothly and allows the dancers to relax and give their best performance. We ask that EVERY FAMILY be involved in at least one show. If you personally cannot volunteer, please offer a babysitter, another family member, or a family friend, in your place.
Class Moms are where we need the most help and can be assigned to classes other than their child’s.  When parents help with shows their dancer is not involved in, it makes it possible for other parents to sit in the audience and enjoy seeing their child on stage.  This group effort supports everyone! This year our shows are shorter so the commitment is less.  PLEASE sign up as soon as possible so we can know that our cast will have the support it needs.

CLASS MOM DUTIES (moms only)
  • Arrive 1.5 hours prior to curtain.
  • Stay with their assigned class for the duration of the show and assist with changing dancers into costumes should their dancers be in more than one number.
  •  Works with other class moms (multiple moms are assigned to a class) to keep their class together and know where their dancers are at all times.
  • Makes sure dancers are stage ready (shoes tied, hair slick, lipstick on, no jewelry, no hair elastics on wrists, headpieces secure with pins, no holes in tights, no nail polish, costumes complete).
  • Work with RISE staff to ensure dancers are lined up, in order, and quiet.
  • Watch their dancers perform from the wings.
  • Prepare their dancers for the bow.
  • Help keep the dressing rooms neat and tidy.
  • Hold dancers until a female parent/guardian comes backstage to get their child.
SECURITY (moms or dads)
  • Makes sure all backstage personnel have wristbands.
  • Ensures the safety of the students by watching for outside people trying to the backstage area.
  • Keeps all stage doors shut during the show.
  • Directs late comers to lobby manager.
  • Makes sure students do not enter the lobby area before or during the show.
  • No dads are allowed in the dressing room area.

Class Moms Instructions: Performance

The Holiday Show Moves FAST! Organization is the key.

  • Check-in in the lobby, get name tag, wristband, and Mom packet 30mins prior to dancer arrival.
  • Go to the assigned dressing room.
  • Take pictures of your CLASS MOVEMENT SHEET and familiarize yourself with the SHOW ORDER.  It’s online as well.
  • Know which dancers in your group are in other pieces and who their class mom will be when you pass them on. (Check them off your list as they are no longer your responsibility).
  • Help kids organize: dancers’ personal belongings not associated with the show must be neat and put away.
  • Costumes must be set in the order they will be used. All shoes should be untied and open.
  • Please remember the Holding Pen is 5 deep which means your group must be backstage 5numbers before they perform (many stations will have students trickling in due to quick changes).
  • Students will not be allowed to watch as this year’s shows are abbreviated.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • Absolutely NO students allowed in the floor seating (PRIOR OR DURING

SHOWS).

  • Go to the potty before performing.
  • Kids MUST BE QUIET while backstage
  • PLEASE BE ASSERTIVE WHEN INSTRUCTING YOUR GROUP.

ROOM CLEAN AND NEAT!

  • After the show, please help facilitate a timely exit. Dancers cannot linger backstage.
